Programme

Guest speakers are organised for each evening meeting throughout the garden club year. The talks typically last one hour and include a mix of garden-related subjects. All guest speakers share one thing in common – they are all passionate about their subject.

September 11th – AGM – Group Head Gardener at Bath Priory Hotel Jane Moore on Late Summer Colour

October 9th – Tamsin Westhorpe on Stocktonbury gardens. Tamsin was Editor of English Garden magazine and is now a partner at Stocktonbury.

November 13th – Mike Howarth on The Wonders of Westonbirt

December 11th – Margie Hoffnung, Conservation Officer for Gardens’ Trust, on Visiting gardens – a great British tradition

The programme for 2019:

12th March – Christine Skelmersdale, MD of Broadleigh Bulbs on ‘All Year Round Bulbs’

9th April – John Ball, Founder of FAB Swindon which has a mission to make Swindon the butterfly capital of the world on ‘Establishing wildflower habitats’

14th May – Mervyn Reed, who loves to share his knowledge gained over 35 years in horticulture and will host a ‘Gardeners’ Question Time and Plant Doctor’ session for the club

11th June – Alan Holland, Manager of TWIGs, on The Work of TWIGs and the benefits its community garden brings to the local area

9th July – Nathalie Mignotte on the ‘Red Fortress and Summer Residence; the gardens of the Alhambra and Generalife in Granada, Spain

10th September – Mary and Terry Baker of the Botanic Nursery on ‘Terry’s Favourites’. The Botanic Nursery holds the National Collection of Foxgloves so some will feature among Terry’s diverse selection of favourites

8th October – Paul Barney of Edulis Nursery on his plant hunting exploits ‘Shipwrecks, bombs and bananas; 25 years of Edulis Nursery’.
