Programme

Programme of guest speakers to resume in March 2021

Just to let members and visitors know that guest speakers have been booked for the club to start at the beginning of March 2021. The March and April talks will be given via Zoom but all talks up to and including June will be able to be delivered via Zoom should this be necessary and until such times that we are able to meet in person.

The programme of speakers are as follows:

March 9th ~ Photographer Adrian James will kick off the year with a talk on ‘Three West Country’ gardens including Yeo Valley garden which some members have visited in the past. Hopefully Adrian’s beautiful photographs will transport us to some lovely places which will help make up for the fact that the club’s garden visits were limited last year.  James is well used to giving his talks via Zoom and so we are in safe hands to start our programme with him.

April 13th ~ Horticultural freelance and lecturer Chrissy Ching will speak on ‘Gardening in a small space: making the most of your plot’. This will be delivered via Zoom.

May 11th ~ Helen Picton of Old Court Nurseries will give a presentation on ‘Bringing colour into your borders well into Autumn’ with a focus on Michaelmas Daisies. Helen will bring plants for sale if this meeting is able to take place in person but if not will be via Zoom.

June 8th ~ Richard Rickett, Editor of National Beekeeping magazine will cover the topic of ‘Gardening for Bees’.  Richard is hoping to visit us and to bring items for sale that are all made from bee products from his many hives. These are also available via www.bathbees.co.uk a business which he runs with his wife.  However, this presentation will be given via Zoom should that be necessary.

July 13th – Heather Godard-Key of Fibrex Nurseries is to talk on Fantastic Ferns in the hope that she will instill the same passion she feels about them to us.

August – no monthly meeting

September  14th – Robin Pearce of Worlds End Garden will give a talk on how to ‘Create a prairie in your own back yard – naturalistic planting of N America Native Plants’. Robin has owned a  nursery with his late wife for many years specialising in hardy perennials and particularly those suitable for prairie planting.

Your membership fee will be adjusted accordingly for those who paid their subscription for 2020 for meetings that had to be cancelled because of Covid 19.
